The 28th Street YMCA project is a designated historic building designed in 1926 by the legendary and first African American Architect, Paul R. Williams which was completely restored in November 2012 as an affordable and permanent supportive housing and community center, known as the 28th Street Apartments

The rehabilitation of the building includes a careful restoration of the original Paul Williams structure and features a new residential wing to the rear of the 85 year old building.

Collaborative House provided the conceptual floor plans and furnishings for thirty unique apartments, community spaces and exterior courtyards in the restored building and the new residential wing.

The interiors have a modern design with a nod to the past using custom furnishings created and manufactured by Collaborative House.
